DIY Valentine Gift For Her "You Light Up My Life" Light Bulb Earrings

For Christmas, I shared how to make your very own light bulb earrings, using Christmas lights. Now with a few added steps, you may make a unique pair of Valentine earrings for someone you love. These tiny real light bulb earrings have little notes wrapped around them and secured with  red string. The notes read "You Light Up My Life".

Materials:

Clear or Red Tiny Replacement Bulbs
Folding Crimps
Earring Hook Findings
E-6000 Glue
Tiny Notes "You Light Up My Life"
Clear Packing Tape
Red String

Directions:
Trim the two wires off the top of bulbs. Open folding crimps, and mold and shape around the top of bulbs. Glue bulbs to open folding crimps. Let dry, before hanging on earring findings, using needle nose pliers. Next print out on computer, or hand write, tiny notes that read "You Light Up My Life". I used a font on PicMonkey that has hearts in it. Feel free to right click, save, and print, the image above. I chose to laminate my notes with clear packing tape. You will need to roll as tight as possible the notes around the bulbs. Then you will secure with red string, tying tightly.

Not feeling to crafty, but want the earrings. They are still available in my shop TLC Creations

Well that's what I have been up to, what about you? Come share at our weekly Anything Goes linky party.

DIY Chained To Love Or Love Triangle Earrings

What do you think the best name for these DIY earrings would be, Chained To Love or Love Triangle? I love both names, and can't decide. They are simple and affordable to make. They were made with antique bronze LOVE charms from WholePort and a few other items.

Materials:

Antique Bronze Love Charms From WholePort
Antique Bronze Chain
Four Jump Loops
Two Hook Earring Findings

Directions:

Using jewelry pliers attach jump loops and chain to Love charms. Then attach hook earring findings to the center of the chain, so that the earrings hang straight.

Tip:

My chain was very small, so it was a little harder to work with, like threading a small needle. Larger chain would be easier to work with, however I love the look of the smaller chain.

Speaking of Love Triangles, can you recognize the book these earrings were photographed on? If so let me know in a comment below, along with your choice of name for this DIY jewelry craft. Should these earrings be called Chained To Love or Love Triangle?

So what have you been up to? Please share at our Anything Goes weekly linky.

Love Inspired Art Work

My husband and I recently purchased a new quilt set for our bed and repainted our room a soft yellow and blue (as seen above).  I had been wanting to find some art work to go over our head board in our room.  Feeling a bit inspired by Valentines coming up, I came up with this idea.  At first I went to the fabric department looking for fabric that would complement our new color scheme and bedding.  I was unable to find anything just right.  Then I had an epiphany, why not just purchase another pillow sham from the Better Homes and Garden collection we had just recently purchased.  Of course it would match perfectly.  So that is what I did.  All I needed for this project was a standard sham (20 in x 28 in) for $6.00, a black frame (20 in x 30 in) for $11.44, and card stock self adhesive letters (which I had on hand already, but estimate cost to be $5.00 or less).  Note that the measurements for the sham are smaller then the frame per manufacturer specifications, however when you lay the sham out flat it is actually larger then the frame.

As you can see, I just folded the part of the sham that didn't fit in the frame over and taped it down
with some packing tape.

Inspired by Valentines, I added card stock to read "love", "hugs & kisses (xoxo)",  and then
added mine and my husbands initials "J & M".

Our new bedding and sham as used for this art work.
I hope this easy project will inspire you to try something similar.  If so, I would love to hear about it and see some pics.
