I don't think we will dye eggs ever again with vinegar. We had so much fun painting and licking fingers as we went. When my kids saw me lick paint from my fingers for the first time, they were a little surprised. Then I let them in on my secret edible paint. They had a blast decorating eggs this year, and eating a little edible paint. I couldn't resist taking some pics as we went. To keep from making a mess inside, we had fun decorating out in the rain, on our covered sidewalk. After painting, the eggs need to sit over night in the fridge, to allow the food coloring to absorb. It takes longer since you are not using any vinegar. No one wants to lick vinegar off their fingers. The next day you will rinse off your eggs in cool water, and enjoy your art work.

Recycled Light Bulb Carrot Ornaments
Maybe it's because my Bacon Asian Orange Chicken Pizza is a semifinalist recipe in the Pillsbury 1 Million dollar Bake-Off contest, or maybe it's because carrots always remind me of Spring, either way I have orange crafts on the brain. This "orange" craft is also green, recycling old burned out light bulbs into ornaments.
Materials Used:
Old Bent Tip Light Bulbs
Orange Yarn
Green Yarn
Green Floral Wire
Hot Glue
Green Permanent Marker
Orange Permanent Marker
Directions:
Using scissors or wire cutters, cut floral wire in half. Wrap it around the base of your light bulb, forming a loop for hanging. With hot glue, attach orange yarn, wrapping tightly around bulb as you go. At the base of bulb, wrap green yarn tightly around base and floral wire. Hot glue ends of yarn down. Tie a bow around top of bulb with more green yarn. If any hot glue shows up white, color it in with your permanent markers.
Well that's what I have been making. What have you been up to? Please come share at our Anything Goes weekly linky party. If you have not cast your vote yet in the Pillsbury Bake-Off please do so now. My Bacon Asian Orange Chicken Pizza would love your vote. Voting ends for the Doable Dinners category on 3/28/13.

Anything Goes Linky #91 And A Creative Princess Review
I am posting the party a bit early this week because I am so ready for the weekend. I want to give a special shout out to a sweet peep by the name of Terri. You probably already know how wonderful Terri is, and how crafty she is with her blog A Creative Princess. I personally have been having a hard few weeks. Work has been, lets say challenging. My little Lucas has been dealing with bronchitis for months now, and is on yet another prescription. Then on top of it, he came down with a case of the stink eye, a.k.a. Pink Eye. Lucky for me, Lucas and I shared a pillow last night! As I type, I am telling myself my eye doesn't itch or feel like it's growing cheese. Did I mention I have a sinus infection? My husband actually slept on the couch last night since he said I sound like a harmonica when I sleep. By the way, it's so much fun putting eye drops in a toddlers eyes, 4 times a day! Thank goodness I have no other responsibilities on my plate for the next week...cough...sarcasm. OK so I am whining, and deep down I know I am fortunate and blessed. Speaking of blessings, let's get back to Terri. Terri has been a real friend, and always willing to lend an ear when I have been feeling like I am losing my mind. She recently sent me the cutest washer bunny necklace. She even has them available for purchase here at A Creative Princess Etsy Shop. The necklace was packaged so nicely. This lady sure knows how to make someone feel special and loved. Which is why I highly recommend her blog and shop. Thank you Terri for the sweet early Easter gift, and most importantly for being such a great friend.
Have you entered my giveaway yet at Living In France? It's low entry and ending soon on 3/5/13.

Right after I had finished typing this post, I received some heart breaking news. Today I am accepting prayers for my family. My Grandpa Fred Eyre passed away Tuesday night. May God be with my Grandma, Dad, cousins, and the rest of the Eyre clan.
It's been a long week, filled with emotions, to make matters worse, my little Lucas and I are both sick. Your lovely links from last week did help to cheer me up. I had a harder time then normal narrowing down my favorites for features. I hope these all inspire you too! Thanks for linking up. Hope to see you again on Friday for another fabulous linky party.

Easter Egg Shoe Clips DIY
I had to come up with another idea to use up all of my Easter stickers. I already shared an Easter egg ring and a necklace in an earlier post. I remembered all the stainless steel shoe clips I ordered a while back that I have been trying to find time to make rosettes for. Well I added some jewelers glue to the back of my stickers and simply glued them to the clips. They will be the perfect little girls accessory to wear with all those fun Easter dresses. Of course I have all boys, so these went to my shop.
Tip: You can spread a thin layer of jewelers glue all over the back of the sticky egg, then add your shoe clip. Your shoe clip will be well secured, and the glue will dry clear, and not sticky anymore!

Easy Easter Egg Chicks
So this was the first year that we made all of our eggs look the same for Easter. I love how they turned out. My eight year old did a great job. I helped our little Lucas make one too. Well all you need is hard boiled eggs. For perfect hard boiled eggs this is what I do.
Place eggs in a large pot. Cover eggs completely with water, about an inch over the tops of eggs works well. Place on stove top over high heat. Bring to a boil, when they start boiling, continue to boil uncovered for 1 minute. Then cover with a tight lid and remove from heat. Let set for 7 minutes for medium size eggs, 8 minutes for large.
I didn't measure my yellow dye. After I cooled eggs in cold water. I drained out the water from the pot until only half of the egg was covered. Then I poured vinegar in until the eggs were completely covered with liquid and added a bunch of yellow food coloring. We probably didn't need this much vinegar but I didn't want this part to take long. Then we patted eggs dry and used red and yellow color snaps to make the beaks, and blue for the eyes. To complete our project we placed the eggs back in the egg carton filled with green Easter grass.
These color snaps are only a dollar at Walmart. Coloring the eggs all at the same time in one pot was so much easier then how we usually do it. Next year I think we will leave the eggs white and make Easter Bunny Eggs using the color snaps.

Hanging With My Peeps!
Well I have seen a few of these cute Peep inspired t-shirt tutorials on the web. I don't usually dress my family up all matchy matchy. I try and let my kids decide what they want to wear. If it's clean and decent, I am happy. I pick my battles. For example my older son, who is 8, decided a while back to wear his clip on tie with his t-shirt. Hey, maybe he will start a trend. Well I decided to make four t-shirts, Peep inspired, for us to wear next Saturday. Here they are.
Here is how I made these t-shirts. All four only took about an hour. I used fabric markers, fabric paint, t-shirts, two Peeps, and two Kraft Marshmallow Bunnies. Yes, it is true, I confess, peeps were harmed during the making of this craft project. I could have probably made a stencil, but since marshmallows and peeps are so cheap, and it saved time, I put my fabric paint on the marshmallows and used them as stamps. Then I took a small brush and filled in if needed. If you make a Peep shirt, I would love for you to leave me the link below, so everyone can check it out. I love my Peeps at home and my Bacon Time Peeps, you all rock. Thanks for playing with me.

Before & After Easter Mantel
Well I had been avoiding decorating our mantel since it is a little awkward. We have a wood burning stove in front of it. A must have here in chilly Northern Cali but it makes for some challenges. Well I decided to go ahead and make it festive for Spring and here is what I did. First I needed a focal point. I made this inexpensive piece of art.
Happy Spring Everyone!
