Felt Fortune Cookie Valentine Cards and Earrings Tutorial and Printable

You may have seen these cute felt fortune cookie cards, and tiny fortune cookie earrings in my shop. They are both made using the same technique. I always love shrinking the ordinary to make it even more extraordinary. The life size fortune cookies would make a great replacement for a Valentine card. Combined with the earrings, you have one adorable gift. I will share with you today how I made them.

Materials For Fortune Cookie Cards:

Felt
Copy Paper
Hot Glue
Clear Packing Tape

Materials For Fortune Cookie Earrings:

Felt
Copy Paper
Hot Glue
Clear Packing Tape
Blank Earring Posts and Backings
Jewelry Glue

Directions:

For the life size fortune cookies, you will want to cut out 3 to 3 1/2 inch felt circles. For the earrings I cut out circles approximately 1 inch wide. Next you will want to print out your Valentine messages or you may hand write some too. Feel free to right click, save, and print my fortune cookie messages above, and adjust size to your liking. After cutting out your fortune cookie messages, you may choose to protect them with tape or lamination. To make the fortune cookies, you will place your messages in the center of circle. I like to leave part of the message sticking out over the edge of  the felt cookie. Then you will place a small dab of hot glue at the top center edge of your felt, and then fold felt in half, covering message. For the earrings, I glued the message down too, to make sure they wouldn't fall out. Then you will fold your fortune cookie in half again, and place a small dab of glue in center of fold, and pinch, to secure. For earrings, use jewelry glue to secure posts to the back side of felt cookies.

I have made paper fortune cookies too, and  find the felt easier to work with, since you can shape and fold it without worrying about tearing.

Well that's what I have been up to. If you are not feeling to crafty, you can purchase these from my shop TLC Creations. I would love to know what you have been doing. Please share in a comment below, or at our weekly Anything Goes Linky Party.

DIY Valentine's Day Gift Flower Necklaces

If you have stopped in to my shop recently, you may have seen these necklaces. I have a secret, they were pretty easy to make. They look even prettier on, and are quite the conversation piece. I will wear mine on Valentine's Day, and you can too. Head to my shop TLC Creations to buy one, or use this tutorial to make your own. I don't know about you, but I would rather receive flowers that don't require watering, and won't die shortly after Valentine's Day.

Materials:

Doll House Miniature Pitcher or Mug ( I found mine at www.wholeport.com)
Metal Jewelry Chain (I used red and white)
Jump Loops
Lobster Clasp
Jewelry Glue E-6000
Doll House Miniature Flowering Ground Cover Plant

Directions:

Using scissors, cut a small amount of your doll house flowering plant. Place some jewelry glue inside of your doll house mug or pitcher. Press flowers into the glue. If needed, trim flowers more with scissors. Let dry over night. Use jewelry pliers to make your necklace. I suggest 16-18 inches for length. You will attach a jump loop to your pitcher or mug handle, then string it onto your chain. Once you have attached a jump loop to one end of the chain, and a jump loop and clasp to the other end, you are done.

Well that's what I have been up to, what about you? Come share at our weekly Anything Goes linky party. Please check out our DIY page for more Valentine's Day crafts.

Vintage Lace Necklace Tutorial

I have so many great jewelry tutorials up my sleeve for different items I have been making for my upcoming craft show. I decided I would share one of those with you today.  I have made a few different styles of vintage lace necklaces.  You can make these with really any type of lace, and with any embellishments that you want.  I scored some great vintage ivory lace and new I had to come up with some fun ways to incorporate it into my jewelry making.

PicMonkey Photo Editing and Free Mother's Day Gift Idea

Original pictures above taken by Katie Zumpano Photography.

Have you all had a chance to check out PicMonkey yet?  As someone who loved Picnik, I am even more excited with PicMonkey.  It seems quick and easy to use.  You can edit your pics just like you did on Picnik.  They even have new editing options that were not available on Picnik.  All of these options are FREE at the moment, but they will eventually have a membership fee for those that want to use their coolest features. Here are some examples of what you can do on PicMonkey:
