DIY Recycled Necklace Pillsbury Style

To celebrate Earth day, I deiced to make a necklace out of mostly recycled materials. I happen to love Pillsbury products, and noticed their emblem was the perfect 1 inch circle to fill a bottle cap. I accessorized my foodie necklace with a fork charm that I snipped the loop off of. The bail on the back is a "made with love" charm perfect for my Pillsbury theme.

Materials And Supplies Used:

Bottle Cap
Glossy Accents
Made With Love Charm
Large Jump Loop
Ribbon Necklace
Glue Stick
Jewelers Glue E-6000
1 inch circle paper punch
Image (In this case the Pillsbury logo from a Pillsbury pie crust box)
Fork Charm
Needle Nose Jewelry Pliers

Directions:

Using  a 1 inch circle punch, or scissors, if you have a steady hand, cut out your desired 1 inch circular image. Using a glue stick, attach it to the bottom inside of your bottle cap and let dry. Using wire cutters, clip off the loop  from your fork charm, or any other charm you want to use. Lay the charm on top of your image where you would like it to stay. Pour Glossy Accents over the top of charm and image, filling with clear gel until the sides of bottle cap are reached. Use a needle to remove any unwanted bubbles in Glossy Accents that may form. Cover pedant while it dries to avoid dust, and let dry over night or until gel becomes completely clear and hard. Glue "made with love" charm or bail onto the back side of your bottle cap with E-6000 glue. Let dry for 1 to 2 days. Attach a large jump loop to charm loop, and string on necklace.

Well that's what I have been up to, what about you? Come share at our weekly Anything Goes linky.

Holiday Scrabble Tile DIY Rings and Resin Tips

I had a blast making new holiday jewelry for my shop. These rings are on sale in my shop for only $2.84 here.  If you are feeling crafty, you can make some Scrabble jewelry too. I have worked with a few different resins, but have come to prefer Glossy Accents. It is made in the USA, is acid free, and non-toxic. I find it dries a lot faster then other similar finishes available. The more gel you use, the longer it will take to dry. It protects your image, and adds dimension to your sticker.

Materials:

Glossy Accents Clear Gel
Scrabble Tile
Small Holiday Sticker
Ring Blank
Jewelers Glue

Directions:

Apply your holiday sticker to the blank side of your Scrabble tile. Cover with your Glossy Accents gel. Use a needle to scrape any bubbles off of the gel top. Let dry, covered, free from dust, according to package directions, for 15 to 60 minutes.  I usually allow more time, to make sure I don't mess up the nice clear glossy finish. Once dry, glue your tile to your ring blank with jewelers glue. I prefer jewelers glue E-6000. Jewelers glue is toxic, so please follow package directions, and use it in a well ventilated area. It is best to let glue dry for 2 days prior to wearing ring.
