Homemade Age Defying Lip Balm For Less

If the Kool Aid in these lip balms doesn't  make you feel young, then the other ingredients will. These homemade long lasting lip balms truly have age defying ingredients with Red  Raspberry Seed Oil, Vitamin E Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Bees Wax, and 100% Cocoa Butter.  They also provide a slight color and shimmer to your lips, using edible Kool-Aid and cake decorating Pearl Dust.  Red Raspberry Seed Oil is not your cheapest oil, however it is considered to be one of the best oils to rejuvenate and regenerate skin tissues. It helps remove toxin build up in your skin, improving skin complexion, and also provides natural UV protection. These are easy to make.  No, you don't need to be a cook or a chemist to master this beauty craft. They will make a perfect stocking stuffer this Christmas, and cost less than other store bought lip balms with questionable ingredients. None of the ingredients I used need to be refrigerated, and all had a shelf life of 2-3 years, or more.

Makes 16 Firm Lip Balms
Ingredients:

2 Ounces (2 Bars) Organic Bees Wax *Approximate Cost $1.99 From Ebay

1 Strawberry Kool-Aid Packet .14 oz  *Approximate Cost $0.25 From IGA
1/4 TBS Edible Orchid Pink Pearl Dust  *Approximate Cost $2.50 From JoAnn
16 New Empty White Chap stick Containers *Approximate Cost $3.19 From Ebay

Total Cost For 16 Lip Balms $12.00
Total Cost For Each  $0.75

*cost based on the percentage of item used, not total purchase price

Directions:

In a double boiler, melt your cocoa butter and wax together. Turn off heat, add remaining ingredients, and stir. Note you will squeeze your Vitamin E oil out of the capsules first. You can do this by carefully puncturing a hole in your capsules with a knife. Carefully pour your warm melted lip balm into clean empty lip balm containers, and let cool. Cap and gift wrap as desired. I attached Avery address labels with my contact info and  ingredient lists to mine.  I will be using these in gift bags for my Jamberry nail hostesses. Note this is not an exact science. You may add more olive oil, vitamin E oil, coconut oil, and/or red raspberry seed oil to achieve a softer and shinier balm. The lip balm will look much darker then it will actually appear on lips.  For more shimmer add extra Edible Pink Pearl Dust or you may also use Mica a natural mineral used in cosmetics.

TIPS:

You may purchase liquid Vitamin E oil by the bottle, however for me it was more cost effective to buy the softgels. For easy clean up, before scrubbing bowl, and while still warm, carefully wipe bowl with a paper towel to remove leftover waxy lip balm.

Well that is what I have been up to, what about you? Please come share at our Anything Goes weekly linky party.

Whitney Farms® recently sent me some All Purpose and Tomato and Vegetable organic plant food to review.   I was really excited to try it since it's not made with manure like most organic plant foods are.  Their plant food feeds your plants and garden with protein based nitrogen.    The All Purpose Plant Food can be used on vegetables, flowers, trees, and shrubs in beds and containers.   Of course the Tomato and Vegetable Food is specially formulated to get the most out of your veggie garden.  They have a full line of plant food and soils, all 100% natural, with nothing artificial, just ingredients from the Earth. They have been around for over 25 years, and have developed easy to use products  with no manure odor, low dust,  that contain beneficial microbes, and protein based blends.  Their plant food provides your plants with the macro and micro nutrients they need to thrive.
I must admit I have no green thumb.  My husband does the vast majority of all our gardening work.  He plants a garden every year which always consists of tomatoes and strawberries, two of our favorite items to grow.  Not only are strawberries and tomatoes a family favorite, but they tend to be quite expensive in the store, so it's worth growing your own.  With Whitney Farms® I am confident we will have a great harvest this year.  Living in Northern California we are just starting to get our garden going. With the late frost, we get a late start.  I am even more excited that we will be able to feed our plants without introducing harmful elements.  Knowing that their plant food is 100% organic and manure free makes me feel safe to let the kids help with the planting. It makes me feel even better knowing that I will be serving nutritious home grown organic fruits and veggies this Summer.
My boys and I planted some paper mache flower seeds in our flower bed today.  We fed our new seeds with  Whitney Farms® organic plant food.
The back of the bag will let you know how much plant food to use.

I love that the Whitney Farms® organic plant food bag has a zip lock top for easy storage.
Always water well after fertilizing with Whitney Farms®.
My boys and I had a great time gardening together thanks to Whitney Farms®
