Night Owl Crafting Blog Link Party!

Night Owl Crafting

Over at Night Owl Crafting, a cool new blog I follow.  They have a "hoooo are you" blog link party.  Here is how it works.  They post questions every Tuesday.  You then answer them on a post on your own blog.  Then you link your post to their blog.  It is a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers out there.  I will be try to participate each week and invite you fellow bloggers to join.  At the bottom of my blog you can find my button collection, you will see Night Owls button there if you want to head on over and join the fun.

Here are this week's questions!

1. What did you get/give for Valentine's Day?
2. Do you have a vacation planned in the next couple of months or in the summer?
3. What is one thing you do to pamper yourself?
4. What sparks your interest to other people's blogs?
5. What kind of a mood are you in today?

Here are my answers...

1. A locket from Charm Factory from my husband that reads "plus que  ma propre vie" translation "more than my own life" in French. Are you "awwwwwing" yet.  How horrible I didn't get him anything.  He told me we were not exchanging gifts this year.  Stinker, my sweat!
I did make him however a "tower of love cupcake" featured in an earlier post.

2. I have a vacation planned to go to Savannah in June for the Real Women of Philadelphia, my entire family is going.  We have a mini vacation planned this weekend to go to Reno, it is only an hour away.

3. Pamper myself... I always make time, even if it is only 30 minutes to take a walk or workout.  It is a great stress relief and has also helped me keep off about 100 pounds for over the last 5 years.

4. I love when people share themselves on their blogs, flaws and all.  Keep it real.  For example my boobs are a little lopsided, one is a bit bigger then the other.  Oh well, variety is the spice of life right? lol

5.  What kind of mood am I in, well I am sitting here in my pjs and it's almost 1:00, does that help. lol  I know I sound like a bum.  I actually have been working so hard that I am moving a bit slower today.  I also have been sick too, but am feeling better today.

Well thanks Night Owl Crafting for this fun link Party.  I hope you all have enjoyed getting to know me better.

Mini Santa Fe Gorditas

I made these for lunch a while back but they would be a great appetizer too.  They were a huge hit and are super easy to make.  Follow baking directions for the biscuits but slice them in half first so that you have 16 thin circular biscuits.  Sprinkle them with your onion powder and cheese before baking.  I baked on a parchment lined cookie sheet for easy clean up.  When they are done fill with your hot fajita seasoned beef, pico de gallo,  chipotle mayo by Kraft (so good and reduced fat too), and fresh lime on the side.  You can use any variety of cooked fajita beef that you like or make your own.  I kept it easy and  found mine at Walmart.  The beef was super tender and flavorful.  Easy too since all the work is done for you, all you have to do is reheat in the microwave per package directions.  So easy and so good, soooo my style of cooking, enjoy!

All Ingredients:
1 can(s) Pillsbury Grands Homestyle Buttermilk Refrigerated Biscuits 16.3 oz (8ct)
1/2 tablespoon(s) McCormick Onion Powder
1 1/2 cup(s) Finely Shredded Cheese, I used Colby & Monterey Jack Cheese
16 oz(s) Fully Cooked Sliced Fajita Seasoned Beef (I used a store bought, fully cooked, flame broiled, seasoned, & sliced beef)
1 cup(s) Fresh Pico De Gallo or Fresh Salsa
1 cup(s) Chipotle Flavored Mayonnaise, I used a reduced fat brand
3 Limes

Up Cycled T-Shirt

Hard to get a good pic showing the detail since it is all black, sorry.

BTW, see those two freckles on my arm or as my dermatologist would say skin cancer concerns.  They will be coming
off next week.  I have already had 8 biopsies in the last month, including stitches.  Please wear your sunscreen.  This is
a PA from Bacon Time.   If you want to burn something, burn some bacon.

A close up of the belt and flower detail.
If you have been following my blog, you know that my passion is cooking but I have been trying to improve my sewing skills.  This was my first attempt at up cycling a t-shirt.  I took an old black t-shirt and cut off the top of the back and a bit off the front. I made sure to try it on first and note wear my bra line was since I hate shirts that you have to wear a special bra with or no bra at all (I don't go there). I have nursed two babies, these were working breasts, and the girlie's are hanging in there but not on their own.  ;)
I know I know, way to much information, OK lets get back to business.  After cutting off the amount I wanted from the top of shirt, I sewed the edges all over.  Then using some stretchy sequined black ribbon, I attached a belt to the top, to give it some shape.  I also took the scraps from the top and made a flower, as I did in an earlier post on my up cycled purse (as seen on me above).  I attached the flower on to the belt, sewing it by hand, with a button in the center.  Looking back, I wish I had not attached the belt, since I would like to wear it with other things.  So I would recommend, after measuring out the amount you want for your belt, sewing the ends together with your sewing machine.  Then attach the flower to the seem of the belt.  I added a strap of stretchy sequins to the back of shirt as well.  BTW do you like my necklace?  That is another up cycle project from leftover pieces of my up cycled sweatshirt.  I will share more of that in a later post very soon.
