Bat-stache Kids Craft and Photo Prop

In case you have not heard, the new Summer blockbuster will be The Dark Night Rises, Batman film premiering soon.  My youngest will not be seeing it, however he still loves Batman.  Every so often he looks at me very seriously and says "I'm Batman".

I had just finished making 30 mustache wine charms, inspired by Made In A Day's charms pictured below. I am going to add them to my craft show booth this Summer.  I think they will be fun to display next to my mustache earrings.

My little Lucas was wanting to play with the wine charms I had just made.  That is when I came up with the
bat-stache.  I put his  bat-stache on a wooden dowel, but you could just as easily put it on the back of a clip on earring, like instructed to do for the mustache charms.  Either way it will be a fun party favor for those Batman or Halloween parties.

Materials Needed For Bat-stache:

Black Felt
Hot Glue
Wooden Dowel or Clip on Earring Blank (for cup charm)
Bat Cookie Cutter or Stencil
Optional: Black paint for dowel

Directions:

I used a bat cookie cutter as a stencil to make my felt bat.  Once you have your felt bat cut out, all you need to do is hot glue it to your wooden dowel or clip on earring blank, whichever you prefer.  I used a little bit of felt to cover the hot glue on the back of the bat, and to make it even more durable.

What it looks like on the back.

Warning:
If your boys are like mine, they need to be supervised with the sticks, so that no one looses an eye.

I hope you will have fun making some bat-staches with your kids this Summer or Fall for Halloween.
