DIY Non Petroleum Lip And Cuticle Scrubs In 3 Cocktail Flavors

With Mother's Day just around the corner, I thought it would be a fun time to share an easy recipe of mine for a non petroleum lip and cuticle scrub. From left to right, we have Mojito, Appletini, and Margarita flavored scrubs. You should not eat the scrubs, but all of the ingredients are safe, so if you accidentally ingest a tiny bit, no worries. I made each flavor in a clear, and a sparkly pink variety.

Ingredients:

1 Packet of Each Crystal Light Mojito, Appletini, and Margarita Drink Mixes
All Natural Waxelene (A Petroleum Jelly Alternative)
Coconut Oil
Wilton Pearl Dust
1 Target Dollar Bin Pill Box

In case you are not familiar with Waxelene, it's a skin protector and moisturizer, that may also be used as a make-up remover.  Waxelene believes in no animal testing, and is doctor recommended.  Made with only organic soy oil, beeswax, vitamin E, and organic rosemary oil. It is more expensive then petroleum jelly, but a much healthier alternative.

I used a Target dollar bin pill box for storing scrubs, but any container with a lid will do.

Pearl Dust maybe found in the bakers section of most stores.

Directions:

Mix a drink packet with 1 Tbs of Coconut Oil and 1 Tbs of Waxelene. I heated mine in a microwave safe container until melted, so it would be easier to pour, but this step is optional. Stir well to combine ingredients. Pour half of your mixture into one pill box compartment. Then sprinkle a little pearl dust into the other half of mixture, and stir to combine. Pour the remaining into another compartment. Repeat for the remaining flavors, until you have a clear scrub, and pink sparkly scrub in each flavor.

To use, you will rub a small amount over your lips, cuticles, and nails, then wipe off with a paper towel, or rinse off with water. Leaving your lips softer, and nails shiny and healthier looking.
Note: Lip and cuticle scrubs maybe stored in refrigerator to keep fresh for a longer period of time.

Well my nails look shiny, my cuticles are under control, and my lips are soft. I am feeling very pampered and ready for Mother's Day, what about you? Come share what you have been up to at our Anything Goes weekly linky party.

  9. That sounds like a great idea! I live in the AZ desert, and my lips (and cuticles) have been so extremely dry these last couple of months because of our very dry Spring weather. Thank you for sharing.
