My Simple Back To School Tablescape

I know some of you have already went back to school. We go back on the 21st. I actually go back too, yes I am going back to substitute teaching. I have a simple tablescape to celebrate the new school year. I think I will plan an extra special meal, to enjoy our last official day of Summer vacation.

Oh I love photographing colored pencils, is that weird?
It only took a few minutes to set up our back to school table. I grabbed three mason jars, and filled them with crayons, colored pencils, and markers, all from my son's art set. I grabbed an apple from the fridge to further accessorize the center of the table.

I realize now I forgot our silverware, but that's okay, it will give you a better shot of the cute school themed bandannas I found at Hobby Lobby.  I often use bandannas as napkins, because they are inexpensive and come in so many fun styles. These were only 99 cents a piece
These bandannas turned napkins are so cute, I might need to get more, for teacher gifts.

Inspired by my youngest starting Kindergarten, I used tiny little chalkboard clips, to write our first initials on, and use as place cards.

Shortly after painting my dining set teal, I found these dishes on clearance at Walmart. It was meant to be, I bought the entire set for only $30.

Well that's one of many things I have been up to, what about you? Come share at our Anything Goes weekly linky party.

Disclosure this is NOT a sponsored post.

  2. Your tablescape is really cute and I love coloured pens in a jar! School doesn't begin here until after Labour Day and I'm so glad! Our summers are too short as it is. Hope your little guy enjoys kindergarten and have fun back at school to you too. Thanks for joining me for tea.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  10. Hi there! Visiting from BNOTP Tablescape Thursday. I think this tablescape is cute as a button! Just darling! I can't think of a more fitting way to kick off the school year for kids AND adults.

I understand about the infatuation with photographing the colored pencils. They really are a simple wonder, aren't they? I feel that way about lipsticks, although I never really have occasion to photograph them for anything on my blog! There's just something cool about the colors all intermingled, the shape of the tip...I totally get it!

The chalkboard clips are a really fun and creative touch!

Best wishes too everyone in your family as they head back to the classroom! Have a great semester!
